  1. Hi Laurie,
I've just come across your blog and can see I have much to read and catch up on to see where you're at, but your introduction really caught my eye. My husband (Clinton, aged 32) had a brain tumour removed in July this year. Histopathology results said it was a grade 2 oligodendroglioma, with 1p/19q co-deletion.
In fact your intro - "if you are going to have a brain tumour, mind is the one to have" - are the EXACT same words we have been using with family and friends when explaining what is going on!.
Turns out half of the tumour was removed (it was about 9 x 5 x 5cm originally) but having sought a second opinion Clinton may now be looking at another operation to remove more of the tumour (which is in the temporal lobe).
I've been researching everything to do with Clinton's tumour and there seems so much to take in. I'm so glad to have come across your blog. It's getting late and I'm really tired so I'll bookmark it and read through your entries in the next few days. In the meantime, I just wanted to say thank you for creating this blog! I've actually begun one too, but haven't had the time to type up everything as yet, but I'll get there one day soon!
Anyway, will be following your blog with great interest.
Very best wishes to you :-)

  2. I found your Blog very uplifting. I have a oligodroglioma that was discovered by accident in 2006. We went the "wait and see" route until this last MRI. The tumour had grown and was cystic and am now waiting for a date to have a craniotomy and tumour removal. Have been just trying to get any information on it so am at least informed. Thank you for the up beat tone towards it all.

    1. Hi, I did not need the awake surgery due to the location of my tumour in the right frontal lobe. However, I Believe my surgeon, Dr.David Walker, from Briz Brain and Spine www.brizbrain.com.au has performed such procedures in Brisbane. I can highly recommend Briz Brain and Spine and suggest contacting them (at least for a second opinion).

All the best to you and your partner
      Laurie
